Hi Gregory - I use Amazon Cloud Drive for unlimited storage space at $60 per year. I really wish FreeNAS had a plugin for this. I'd love to use FreeNAS, but without automatic backup to Amazon, I'm not sure it's worth it.

What files do i need to store in Amazon Cloud, other than the music media files.  I have way to many playlist, is there a file that would reproduce the playlist from Amazon Cloud? I looked at Amazon Cloud purchase page, is there a way to estimate how much space I would need for my library?  Looks like a great resource.

Unfortunately Amazon changed its prices drastically. To backup all my music was going to cost me several hundred dollars per month. I stopped using it.

What playback app are you using for playlists?

i am using iTunes.  I just purchased more space from Amazon, for $12, but the app will not let me upload music only photos?

I make a backup daily to one of two external hard drives.  My MacBook Pro backs up  also to Airport Time Capsule, which is also my router, through Time Machine.  I use a portable 1TB hard drive that I leave at my son's house monthly, I might get another one and swap it out with him weekly. I burned all my cds and sold them to a local used cd seller.  He also purchased my old LPs and 45s.  We are relocating into a small condo and there is no room for my music.

Here is my reply from Amazon tech support:

Thank you for your interest in a music upload option. The Amazon Music Storage subscription plans (free and paid) are retired, which means the option to store your Music library is not available anymore.

I use Carbon Copy Cloner and recommend it wholeheartedly. One of the advantages of programs like this is that they do a smart copy and only copy over the files that have changed or have been added, greatly reducing the time required for a backup.

Do you use Cloner instead of Time Machine? My iTunes files seem to be corrupted by time machine.

I have a QNAP NAS, which I have time machine backing up my MacBook Pro and my iMac.  Recently the time machine preferences in the menu bar on both Macs shows the latest backup as a year ago.  The NAS show the current date for the back.  I called Apple support to see why the date was not changing for the latest backup.  Support told me that Time Machine is not supported for wireless backups and she could not help me.  She also told me that NAS wireless is vulnerable to spy ware.  So I am back to wired external hard drives for my backup support.  Has any one heard that TM does not work over wireless networks?
