agillis
There are a lot of questions about the sonicTransporter. The point of the sonicTransporter is that paired with the microRendu it provides a complete solution to turn a USB hard drive filled with music into a music playback system. All that is required is a network and a iPad or tablet for control. You can run Roon Server on your computer or laptop but. if your laptop goes to sleep, virus scanners are running, somebody takes your laptop out of WiFi range. etc. Roon will stop working. Also unless your laptop has an SSD drive you won't get the best performance out of Roon. The sonicTransporter provides a simple way to get the best performance out of Roon with no hassle. It can also run other servers like Squeezebox, DLNA, or SMB (for Sonos) so it provides access to your music from any music player in your home. agillis Small Green Computer http://www.smallgreencomputer.com/ Link to comment
agillis
Sorry for the newbie question, but is there a way to use the Micro Rendu without a router? Mine is 50 feet away from my stereo, and there's no way to run ethernet that far. I'd love to simply connect a hard drive with my music on it. HomePlug adapters work great for this and are very inexpensive. agillis Small Green Computer http://www.smallgreencomputer.com/ Link to comment
agillis
This looks really interesting - right now though I would find it hard to live without Dirac room correction which I use via amarra symphony (stereo). Is there a way to send audio to this device after the correction filter has been applied? apologies in advance for what is probably a dumb question You could use a DAC with Dirac room correction built in. https://www.minidsp.com/products/dirac-series In this case the microRendu could play directly to the USB input in this DAC. This would completely eliminate the PC from your playback chain and greatly simplify your music listening. Plus you could use Roon! agillis Small Green Computer http://www.smallgreencomputer.com/ Link to comment
agillis
Is it Lampizator compatible (Amanero USB board) ? Yes! agillis Small Green Computer http://www.smallgreencomputer.com/ Link to comment
agillis
So I assume Roon can be used with HQ player with this device? I see Roon and HQ player as outputs but can they both work together. You can only have one output active at a time Roon or NAA (HQplayer). HQplayer can be configure with Roon as an input. So you would enable NAA on the microRendu and then set HQplayer as your output in Roon. Roon -> HQplayer -> microRendu (NAA mode) agillis Small Green Computer http://www.smallgreencomputer.com/ Link to comment
agillis
Planning ahead for receiving my microRendu. I set up some full time cooling for it, so heat won't be an issue. Is the device vulnerable to vibration? Solid state. no problems with vibration. agillis Small Green Computer http://www.smallgreencomputer.com/ Link to comment
agillis
Thanks for the reply Doak.....my microRendu is going on a cabinet shelf, so I wanted to be extra safe. I will be using the iFi 9V power module. I can't tell from the photos, but are there little feet on the underbelly of the case? There are small Sorbothane feet that come with it. agillis Small Green Computer http://www.smallgreencomputer.com/ Link to comment
