SPL Professional fidelity - Pro-fi

Recommended Posts

SPL principally manufacture professional products, a lot with real tubes, such as EQ's prees and on, and a few crossover to hi-fi like the Phonitor series.

There's a new line available using their 120V rails to power all components in the chain, from a phono pre-amp, DAC+PRE, Power amplifier, and of course a headphone amp with balanced outs.

Choices of colour are red, silver or black :) The power amp is a linear power transistor out rated at 285W/ch.

The DAC can accept PCM to 384kHz, DSD to 128, since it's a pre there's analog ins as well as AES, S/PDIF and USB.

The enclosures are not 17in or 19in but 11in wide. The power amp is 370D. Compact Quality! If the Phonitor 2 sets the standard , the rest of the gear will be quite a treat in a compact setup.

Looks interesting. Tried to see prices somewhere, couldn't find any.

BTW, what amp technology does the power amp use?

Main listening (small home office):

Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments.

Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT

Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup.
Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare.

All absolute statements about audio are false :)

The price list is on the Director's page. It's a little confusing cause the model numbers look like Euros, but the far right column is the MSRP for Europe in EUR.

The amp would match the rest of the SPL philosophy with regard to reliability from a pro audio background and hstorically, their Phonitor headphones amps are very good (I have one :)). The specs mention bipolar transistors, since the driving voltage of +/- 60 is quite high, the distortions are quite low. As for Class A, they don't mention, but at 40W idle that's going to be traditionally Class AB and no SMPS either.
