matthias
My non technical brain is still a bit puzzled by the fact that DXD files are bigger than even DSD 256 obviously. AFAIK, DXD 24/352.8 is 8.4672Mbit/s and DSD256 is 11.2896 Mbit/s so DSD256 files are bigger than DXD files? Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". matthias
This may be the cheapest device to do DSD512 upsampling with HQPlayer: Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK Features and Configurations KR Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
matthias
Does that processor match the 6700k then? There is a report that this machine is able to perform upsampling with all filters of HQPlayer to DSD512. The processor is made for mobile devices and newer than the 6700K. matthias
Hi Guys, the report about the Intel NUC is from the Mivera Audio Forum: Mivera Audio You have to read the thread "The Superstream Transport": "Yes I have only tested 512 with the Amanero though. With Poly-sinc-short-mp and DSD7 256+fs I get 18-20% CPU load with DSD 256, and 35-40% with 512." The device which is named "Superserve" in the thread is the Intel NUC. Hope that helps Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
matthias
Infact, the "Superserve" is an optimized Linux based system! Yes, but the hardware is stock Intel NUC. Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
matthias
Hi Matt - I can't recommend enough that people be very very very careful doing business with that company. Hi Chris, thank you. Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
matthias
MSB advertises against DSD to PCM conversion and presents their DSD as even more kosher than delta sigma through their mapping to 1.4 Mhz 24 bits. Does this mean DSD is converted to PCM 1.4 MHz/24 bits? Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
matthias
Its also possible to get TWO DSD engines in it, R2R and chipless. Were you able to compare the two DSD engines? Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment

Most "cost no object" type of designs from most manufacturers are not what they make money on. Manufacturers sell few of their top level products, and the cost to make them can be astronomically high, so the amount of money made on such designs is usually a fairly low percentage of a companies overall profits. Most manufacturers make these top level designs because they become a "statement" type product, which can be good for the company's reputation (resulting in more sales of the lower level units), because they can use the "statement" design process as a way to learn about technological advances which can later trickle down to more affordable models, and because design engineers often want to have the opportunity to discover what is possible if cost restraints are lifted. Thank you for the lecture. I know about this topic and would surely not put other devices in this price range in this category. You can regard this as gut feeling or personal opinion or dislike of this brand. Thats all. Matt MikeJazz 1 "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
