Converting MP3/MP4s to Aiff - Use iTunes or XLD?

I have been converting a number of my MP3s and MP4s to Aiff so I can play them on HQP.

Is there any advantage to using XLD to do this versus just using the "convert" command in iTunes. I am just doing straight conversions and not changing any thing else.

Office desktop: iMac ((Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) (4 GHz Intel Core i7) (512GB SSD) (32GB Ram)) => USB (Kimber Kable USB Silver) => V-Link 192 USB Input => V-Link Coax Output (AQ Sidewinder) => Schiit Bifrost Multibit Coax Input => Schiit Bifrost Multibit RCA Output => Schitt Pyst => Schitt Asgard 2 => (Audioquest - Mini-3) => Audioengine HD6 (slave connected with Audioquest Type 4 cable) (Pangea AC-14 Power Cord) (IsoAcoustic L8R155 stands) => Audioquest Sidewinders => Audioengine S8 Subwoofer

The MP3 and AAC (MP4) specs allow for some variation between decoders, and some certainly do produce higher quality output than others. Generally, the better ones use higher precision internally rather than being optimised solely for speed. As for the specific ones you mention, I don't know enough to comment.
