mitebbots
late 2013 Macbook pro w/El Capitan and it doesn't like 2 DACs that I have here, one is C-Media 6631a Async USB to spdif, the other is Nuforce uDAC2. It does see the built-in TE7022 USB in my DAC that only supports 24/96. I will have to pickup and toslink to mini toslink cable and see how that sounds. I wanted to try an higher-end, maybe Xmos based USB to spdif, just not sure this machine will like it. May not be USB 3.0 issue, sort of seems like the OS. things were sort of jumping around in there, seeing, then not seeing the devices. Link to comment
hfvienna
I don't have the most recent Air, but none of the ones I have had have optical out. Are you sure about that? According to my experience all Macs have optical out , its just the same output as headphone analog. So try an Fiber Optic Toslink to 3.5mm Mini Connector Adapter and you will see the red light which means "green light" for optical out here. Link to comment
