Wireless speed varies by file type streamed?

Recommended Posts

In my setup, I have a wireless bridge downstairs that accesses via Wifi AC my music files from a NAS upstairs which is connected to my wireless router with a cat 6 cable. Typically when streaming FLAC files I get speeds around 95-80 mbps. Considering how far away my music system is from the wireless router upstairs I am very happy with this speed. The thing that baffles me is if I try to stream DSF files my speed (at least according to Task Manager in Server R2) slows to around 24 mbps. This change in speed is 100% repeatable. Does anyone why this might happen? I check my CPU usage and it only increases by a few percentage points when streaming high res FLAC versus DSF.
