dminches
I can't seem to be able to run or start MC 21 on its own in core mode. It runs fine is GUI mode but when I am reduced to a CMD box in core mode I can't get it to start. Ideally, similar to how I have my other PC working where it runs MC19 on start-up I would like MC 21 to start automatically. I tried setting the shell to jriver but I got a message saying that I had to reinstall MC21 elsewhere. Can someone help me with this? fajita
You will have to open the registry (run "regedit" from a command prompt or run dialog) and go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]. You will find an entry for Jriver. Manually change the version numbers from 19 to 21 in the command line, and you will be good. This is discussed by Phil here: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f10-music-servers/whos-used-audiophile-optimizer-windows-2012-server-or-windows-8-a-17897/index31.html#post345304 Link to comment
dminches
Something isn't right. I went back to core mode and ran the service tool to replace the shell. When I select media center it says that it cannot find media center "reinstall it in the default directory" which is where is already is. If I make the changes manually do I make them to the "shell" entry in the registry? What is also interesting is that on my other music PC running AO I never replaced the shell but MC19 runs automatically. I think that was set using an earlier version of the service tool. AudioPhil
When AO 1.40 was released, JRiver 20 was the latest version available. That's why a shell replacement for JRiver 21 cannot work (because the ServiceTool cannot look into the future ) AO 2.00 will contain the needed adjustments for JRiver 21 as well as the yet not available JRiver 22 (to avoid the same situation like we have now..). If one can't wait for AO 2.00 it's the easiest way to do it like fajita said, just manually edit the registry to launch JRiver 21. fajita
I am sorry for the delay...I don't frequent this forum as much as I used to. I am presuming you got into the registry ok? Once there, there is a list of expandable headings in a pane on the left. Start with hkey_local_machine and then expanding each sub heading as above. When you finally get to winlogon and click on it, you will see a list of keys in the main pane. One of those will be for Jriver. Doible click on that, and you will see a string of text containing the Jriver version number - it will be 20 if you had that previously. Manually change every 20 to 21 and you will be all set. Right now MC19 starts up after windows loads. I couldn't get MC21 to do the same. Thats why the servicetool does not know about the path of jriver 21. either wait for AO 2.00 or manually make the shell replacement ıllıllı [ ...AO 4.00 BETA... ] ıllıllı ____________________________________________________________________________________ Shop | Reviews | Reference System | AudiophileOptimizer 3.00 | PDF Guide Link to comment

Jockaruba
Hi this seems to be a JRiver bug. Sorry, fastest was to get rid of this os format and reinstall from scratch :-( Hi Phil, I am not sure I understand: Here are the scenario's I have tried where Jriver 21 and Audio optimizer 2.00 beta have been reinstalled several times. 1 Jriver 21, No audio optimizer: Works 2 Jriver 21, Audio optimizer 2.00 beta in Gui: Works 3 Jriver 21, Audio optimizer 2.00 beta in Gui, Shell replaced Jriver: Works 4 Jriver 21, Audio optimizer 2.00 beta in Core, Shell replaced Jriver: Error 5 Jriver 21, Audio optimizer 2.00 beta reverted from Core to Gui: Works 6 Jriver 21, Audio optimizer 2.00 beta reverted from Core to Gui, Shell replaced Jriver: Works So only scenario 4 in Core mode produces the error and reverting to Gui results in a working system again?
