mentt
Aries mini with LPS or Notebook Lenovo/I7/8GB with Daphile? What is the better choice when "best sound" is the only concern? Link to comment
baddog
What DAC will you be using? Where are your music files stored? Silver Circle Audio | Roon | Devialet | Synology | Vivid Audio | Stillpoint Aperture | Auralic | DH Labs Link to comment

davide256
I wouldn't touch the Lenovo as my music source if you paid me by the hour to use it Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
ElviaCaprice
I suppose it all depends on how much versatility you need for media playback? Do you need a full operating system? Do you want an all in one system? Devices being used for viewing or listening? The synergy between these components? Regardless, there are much better PC choices in substitution of the Lenovo for a home based system. (JRiver) Jetway barebones NUC (mod 3 sCLK-EX, Cybershaft OP 14) (PH SR7) => mini pcie adapter to PCIe 1X => tXUSBexp PCIe card (mod sCLK-EX) (PH SR7) => (USPCB) Chord DAVE => Omega Super 8XRS/REL t5i (All powered thru Topaz Isolation Transformer) Link to comment
baddog
You can use the standard Aries Mini power supply if you wont be using the DAC function. I haven't tried one with an LPS but it sounds pretty darn good without one. Silver Circle Audio | Roon | Devialet | Synology | Vivid Audio | Stillpoint Aperture | Auralic | DH Labs Link to comment
