MAC OS X: Best Blu ray external drive?

It's hard to find useful reviews, so you might search Amazon and see which models have the fewest complaints. A good candidate appears to be the LG BE14NU40, but it's 2 years old so may be superseded soon.

When I investigated this a couple years ago, I got the impression that Blu-ray burning resulted in lots of coasters. Is that true?

I was deterred by: (1) how expensive the blanks are; (2) how long the burning process takes; and (3) the probability of burning a coaster and having to repeat the process.
