Digital audio bridge for Genelec 8351's and remote volume control.

After auditioning them I am about to purchase a pair of Genelec 8351's as an upgrade to my Event Opals.

 

Currently I run everything to the Opals (USB from HDD/Mac mini/PM 3.0.3 for Music and a Toslink digital optical for TV) via a Benchmark DAC2 HGC. I listen to music files in most formats including DSD.

 

I'd like to use the Genelecs AES/EBU digital input rather than send analogue from the Benchmark to be re-processed by the Genelecs (which was how I auditioned the Genelecs).

 

I'm thinking the best set up for quality & remote volume control would be to run everything (USB and optical) through a Mutec MC-3+ USB (MUTEC - Professional A/V and High-End Equipment - MC-3+ USB) and control volume using the Genelec GLM software and their wireless remote.

 

Has anyone tried this route, have any comments or other suggestions....Lynx Hilo for example?

I don’t see any reason for this not to work, but you may want to read this thread where Genelec’s R&D guy is answering some sampling rate questions:
