Mytek new dac Brooklyn.

Recommended Posts

Great, so I can do some recording (eg: record an electric guitar straight up to the Brooklyn jack input into my protools)

Unfortunately they didn't seem to add a LUFS (Loudness Unit) meter on the display...

Hi Pad_Boll,

Brooklyn does not include an analog-digital converter. So you can't record your guitar with it. It includes a digital bypass mode though, it passes all the digital info to the computer through USB. If you somehow digitize your guitar and feed to Brooklyn from one of its digital inputs, you can then use Brooklyn to get to ProTools.

All,

I'm hoping the early Brooklyn owners can confirm a few details for me as I consider a purchase. Does the Brooklyn have any built-in streaming capacity, or do you have to have an outboard streamer (Auralic Aries or similar) to take advantage of Tidal or stream from a NAS? Also, is it AirPlay capable? I know AirPlay is limited to 16/44.1, but until MQA is up and running Airplay is a great option for streaming through remote control applications on iPad or iPhone.

Thanks!

Brooklyn is only a dac without any streaming ability. You have to feed it with a PC or a streamer like Aries as you say. There is no wireless functionality either, so no airplay.

Cheers

Does anymore have any comments on the Brooklyn's use of usb versus firewire, and how it compares to the 192?

I'm a current 192 owner and this is something I've been wondering about, as they both sound very different.

Cheers

Brooklyn has only one USB input and no Firewire.

Cheers

Hello All, from the first day I plugged in my Brooklyn I noticed the power cord does not sit firmly in the socket at the back of the Brooklyn. It gets power without problem but I've never experienced this issue before. It feels like the female end does not insert all the way so it Is too easily removed. I'm wondering if they sent me the wrong power cord?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Mine was cutting the power with only a slight touch, so replaced it with a stock one at hand.

The output level on the original DAC is adjusted by the user by opening the case which means warranty is still valid. Not sure DAC+ if has the same jumper adjustment model. Discovery of a tiny broken plastic piece may prevent the hassle of sending the unit back.

Then again, contacting Mytek might be the best choice.
