pdvm
Just about any recording of Mahler's 2nd "Resurrection" symphony, esp. the last 5 minutes or so, when the heaven's open up. Mahler has so many magical goosebump moments. But the one that NEVER fails is at the end of the 3rd movement of the 3rd symphony. It's this sudden change of key, lots of harps, followed by a badass horncall. (Around 1:00:30 in this video) Link to comment

Bach's Chaconne The Mozart part of Mozart' Requiem Ballade No. 1, Chopin (It builds such pain, and then the second theme comes and you can feel it all wash away and leave a smile.) cjf
I appear to be the minority here in this thread in terms of musical genre and I really would like to enjoy classical but no matter how many times I try, I just don't "get it" even though I would love to experience what so many others enjoy when listening to that kind of music. In any case, here's my list of songs that do something to me. Though the goosebumps thing only seems to happen while I'm under some kind of influence Eagles/The Long Run - King of Hollywood Eagles/Desperado - Outlaw Man Bad Company/Bad Company - Seagull The Rolling Stones/LET IT BLEED - Gimme Shelter Lynyrd Skynyrd/Pronounced leh nerd-skin-nerd - Simple Man Great White/Greatest Hits - Save Your Love Foreigner/4 - Waiting for a Girl Like You Fleetwood Mac/Rumours - Gold Dust Women Pink Floyd/The Wall - Comfortably Numb Natalie Merchant/Tigerlily - Carnival My Audio System -Last Updated May 20 2021 Link to comment
realhifi
D'Angelo's "Slice of the Devils Pie" from his remarkable "Vodoo" album. A tour de force of intense soul coupled with deep angst and a veiled threat of violence amid a glimpse of how it is for blacks in America in the year 2000. Listen at your own risk. There are tons more......I like this thread. David Link to comment

Bob Stern
Verdi, Don Carlo, Ella giammai m'amo' Musicophile's blog links to a fantastic performance of that scene by Ghiaurov, with Giulini conducting. Thanks to both Guidof and Musicophile! If anyone know more about that performance, please tell us. Both Ghiaurov and Giulini are more moving than Raimondi and Giulini in the EMI recording from Covent Garden, 1970.
