The Room Treatment A/B Type Testing

Recommended Posts

Something unique going on this year at the Capital Audio Festival (CAF), this is from the vendor brochure.

"There will be two, identical adjoining rooms. The same source with the signal split at the preamp will feed identical amps & speakers through identical cables in both rooms. The only difference will be that one room will be treated with Resolution Acoustics designed treatment system featuring the patent-pending towers, custom diffusion & absorption. Individuals will be able to walk back & forth between the rooms and really get a chance to hear just how critical properly done room acoustics can be."

Of course it's a hotel room so I'm sure the differences will be significant. Regardless it's a great idea. BTW - last year they showed custom silkscreened treatments for those with spousal approval factor issues.

They did this some years ago at another show and it was quite interesting.

They were at AXPONA this year. Would have been very good but the Sonus Faber Strads they used sounded abnormal. Something seemed wrong because they were very harsh and not at all like a few other pairs that were around the show. You definitely heard a diff between the rooms. BTW my listening room is treated for bass and back and side wall reflections.

My room is fully treated. The difference was night and day.

You will be impressed if the room is done correctly.

Do I detect some spurious resonant body with strings on display over there on the left?

:P

Not a chance YashN. That's a hand crafted piece made is sheet metal and wire. Good eye and great opine. :)

Well played, well played.
