I can't get past page 1 of the review. Anyone else able to view this?

No problem for me, I just have to press "Next page" at the bottom.

Backed out to home page and went back in. Was able to read the whole thing in Dutch ( fortunately one of my languages ). Positive review and using a large library as well (128,000 tracks without issues).

However... I reported a bug (and Auralic confirmed) that switching between outputs reverts the volume to 100%. Maybe it was fixed with firmware 3.0... Didn't test it yet.

The bug is still there! The volume slider will tell you volume is at 56, or whatever value you gave it before switching outputs. However, actial volume equals '100'.

Audio

Auralic Aries Mini > SBooster Vbus Isolator > Clicktronic USB 2.0 cable 0.5m > UpTone Audio REGEN (amber) > Curious USB REGEN link > Wadia 121 Decoding Computer > inakustik Reference NF-102 (RCA) > PrimaLuna Prologue Premium Integrated Amplifier (EL34 tubes) > AH! DLS Direkt KB10 Speaker Cable > Sonus Faber Liuto Tower

~ and ~

Wadia 121 Decoding Computer > Belkin male 3.5-3.5 stereo jack iPod cable (with 6.3 adapter) > Sennheiser RS180

Powerline

Dedicated power group > Oehlbach Powercord OFC 1.5mm2 Schuko-C13 > Furman AC-210A E Power Conditioner > Powerline 1 to PrimaLuna, Powerline 2 to Brennenstuhl Premium Powersocket

So what other variable is at play here... would file format matter or file path name length?

Ouch that's going to hurt, and could prove costly.

That is what I've been wondering. What in my brother's library was tripping up both Minimserver and Lightning server but worked fine with Sonos?

Steve - I use etiher Minimserver on Synology NAS as source or an internal 512 Gb SSD (Samsung 850 Evo). I cannot here any difference. I primarily use the internal SSD as my Wifi network is sometimes busy while streaming HD video for my daughter. The music had hick ups so instead of investing in double WiFi networks I decided to invest in this SSD.

Im thinking of getting a Aries mini and hooking into my oppo 105. What is the best connection for Hi Rez streaming? Thx

May I ask why you need an Aries Mini in this setup? The Oppo has a built in DLNA client and can pull files from the network both over DLNA and SMB. I have a 105-D and it works great.

Where the Oppo falls short is in passing through DSD to the digital outputs. It will only pass DSD out on HDMI, which is pretty limiting. Also, the wireless is 802.11n, not 802.11ac like the Aries Mini.

I must be missing something. Just curious...

Yes, you can access the drive directly over the network from a computer and either add or delete tracks/albums.

Sounds effective to me; use the better streamer section in the Aries mini with the better DAC section in the Oppo 105.

thanks. my current set up is all my music is attached to my iMac on a 2TB external drive. I'm currently streaming from my SqueezeboxTouch which is currently connect via CoAx to the Oppo. I also have EDO installed on the touch.

If you are happy enough with the Logitech Media Server providing its music library and audio services to your Squeezebox Touch, you should be able to bypass the SBT and use LMS directly with the Oppo as a Squeezebox streamer together with your existing Squeezebox controller app to boot. If you install the UPnPBridge/squeeze2upnp plugin component in LMS it should provide a Squeezebox emulator for the Oppo (as well as for any other UPnP renderer on the network):

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103728-Announce-UPnPBridge-integrate-UPnP-DLNA-players-with-LMS-%28squeeze2upnp%29

Thought it best to add, since this is a bit off topic for an Aries Mini thread, that using the UPnPBridge plugin for LMS to provide a Squeezebox emulator won't work with an Aries. This is because the Aries's standard UPnP streaming support is currently broken.

I used it last night via Bubble UPNP.

I'm assuming you're referring to the BubbleUPnP Android controller app as opposed to the BubbleUPnP Server helper software (it's usually best to clarify which, as quite a few UPnP streamer owners use at least one, if not both).

Are you certain that you used the Aries in (standard) UPnP mode and not in OpenHome (aka UPnP with Linn extensions) mode? The BubbleUPnP Android app supports control of both standard UPnP and OpenHome renderers.

Thanks for the suggestion. That sounds a bit too complex for me. I'd love a easy way to stream direct from my Mac/ext HD to the oppo. The closest I came is when I hooked up the HD to the oppo and used Media Cenrer. Did not enjoy the interface.

Ok fair enough. Just thought you'd be the 'tinkering type' and an old hand with regards to the Logitech Media Server, given that you'd gone to the trouble of installing the EDO 3rd party app on the Squeezebox Touch.

I have a 2Qute with Aries Mini, and there is a noticeable improvement in sound compared to my MacBook Pro with Audirvana +. I am wondering whether an LPS would be beneficial with the external DAC. Is it worth the outlay?

I have Chord Hugo DAC and BOTW P&P ECO improved the sound noticeably. Atlas EOS 4dd cable was also big improvement …
