New Paul Pang Audio Grade Switch

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks

Paul Pang now offers a new Audio Grade (5 port) switch. It does re clocking with a low jitter TCXO module with silver output transformer and offers two high priority ports. A 5 V power supply with US plugs is included, but it's recommended to use a linear or battery power supply to get the best results. Additional the switch can be bought in a bundle with a 60cm PPA TZ YUN RED LAN/I2S Cable (150$ instead of 189$). The Switch is 149$, the bundle with LAN cable is 299$.

You can find all details here: Paul Pang Audio Grade Switch

Enjoy,

Phil

Phil, that is fantastic. I have inserted a normal Cisco switch between my 2 pcs in my Jplay dual pc setup. I have 2 excellent PPA lan cables in line with it and have achieved very good results. I also have a very good walwart from Empirical Audio on the switch. Soundstage and imaging and depth improved.

There is an active thread on the Jplay forum on this:

Ethernet Switch - increase in SQ - Computer Audio - JPLAY - hi-end audio player for Windows

This PPA switch will certainly add to the sound quality gains. I've ordered it immediately and a nice 5 volt linear PSU to go with it. I will report back after installation and appropriate burn in.

One other note: I've asked Paul Pang to develop an audiophile network/Lan card and he agreed. Lets see how fast that becomes available. That will have many applications, I'm sure.

It's really, really good. If beats direction connection between 2 pcs. It beats FMC (fiber media converter) between 2 pcs. My dual PC setup sounds less musical without it.

A heads up: it isn't 1000Base-t.

Does anyone know if the 'Paul Pang' switch is still available for purchase. (There is no sign of the thing per the links in this thread)

Also, noting that this is quite an old thread, are there any other more recent / similar products available?

Windows 11 PC, Roon, HQPlayer, Focus Fidelity convolutions, iFi Zen Stream, Paul Hynes SR4, Mutec REF10, Mutec MC3+USB, Devialet 1000Pro, KEF Blade.  Plus Pro-Ject Signature 12 TT for playing my 'legacy' vinyl collection. Desktop system; RME ADI-2 DAC fs, Meze Empyrean headphones.

He has a new one:

SHOPPING AREA: AUDIO GRADE ROUTER ,SWITCH

$899 w/ clock unit. it should be very good.

This is the 3rd version he has sold. I have the first version and it functions very well between my pcs in my 2 pc streamer. I think it cost only $150 back then and the reclocker was inside the unit.

Thanks for the link, although I note this is dated from 2015. He does appear to have a curious way of doing business this guy! To be honest, I don't need a router (certainly not a $900 one and my router is specific to the associated cable internet supplier), but I could do with a nice switch. The good news is that the link includes an email address, I shall pursue further.

Paul is a lousy businessman although his devices are pretty good. His website definitely sucks. It was easy to get Pang's stuff back when AudioPhil carried his equipment in his AO shop. Unfortunately, they had a falling out and Phil no longer sells Paul's gear.

I recently ordered one from the Jcat web site. It is a 5 port D-link. It arrived via Paul Pang.

Paul is suck, believe me. I ever almost used everything from paul, usb card + OCXO clock, mobo + OCXO, black,Sarah, red sata cable, SSD + OCXO. All i paid almost $3000, ok they sound great and i admited that nothing sound better than that especially SSD.

After bought then the the nightmare came in the end.  Everything never ever worked stable. Sometime my pc can boosted, sometime not ,from the begining. Don't try to ask for help from Paul. He never answer your question in anyway, email, message. Finally i returned almost everything after his sata connector broke after i twisted cable to be in place. It crisped like potato chips. What a Lousy parts he use. Then he told me that his cable guaranteed only 10times plug in and off.

what? Did you ever bought things like this?

Now i will buy some JCAT cables but i'm not sure it won't happen again while Paul make this thing for JCAT. HOw can i be sure?

The router I'm going to need to know what make/model router has been modified.  How does TLS expect to sell these without any specs?

Thanks!  OK so a DIR-879 is a router you can buy on Amazon right now for $105 and is not particularly well reviewed.  I'd never even consider buying the ordinary non-audiophile version.

The quality of your router is a lot more mission critical than the quality of a switch.

It might sound great.  I'm just saying I don't think it's a particularly good router.
