k6davis Posted July 2, 2015 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I've compared the Blu-Ray (ripped) and the HDTracks versions. I expected the two to sound the same, but they don't. DR is quite low, ranging between 5 and 7 and nearly identical on both versions, but again not exactly the same. I prefer the Blu-Ray. It has noticeably better soundstage depth and sounds more lifelike than the HDTracks version. If you're a fan of the (great) album, the Blu-Ray version is worthwhile. It's hardly an audiophile demo recording, but that version has the most to offer an audiophile of any that I've heard. Rezseeker Posted July 5, 2015 Share Posted July 5, 2015 The HD Tracks version is definitely not a significant improvement: it has pretty much all the harshness of the redbook. Waste of money. Bought it the day it was released. Wish I'd waited for feedback here. Link to comment
