cadela
I know nothing about tube amplifying... therefore, I decided to ask my friend to bring me this from China (less than 1/2 of the price). Nobsound® 6J5 Class A Vacuum Tube Buffer Classic 47 Headphone Amplifier Decode Audio Hifi Diy Amp with Power Supply It says it'll drive 32-250Ω headphones. ... think it'll work for v-Moda m-100. Before I get to play with it for the fun of it (I don't have v-moda yet, it'll arrive soon.) I'd like to hear your guess or even if you have played with this baby tube device before. I will take laughs if you may because I really want to learn. I will soon have an iPod classic (6th gen) 160GB set up for my storage once I find the recharging cable, I will also have iFi nano for real in August, and I usually learn things backwardly. Thanks in advance. Please entertain me if you have the time. Cadela swims/moves/hears like an Olive Ridley turtle. cadela
Anyway, thinking the viewers of this community are very high professional and serious audiophilers... I have to laugh at myself of posting this kind of question here. anyway, if I know how to delete post, I would. Here is a follow up... I think I will never know the answer unless I experience the real 'audiophile' tubes. Just got my v-Moda m-100. ... enjoying it... however, I think I must have piggy ears because the ear cups fit tightly to my ears... I am trying to get used to it. Are any of you experiencing it too? I LOVED what I hear.. then, I felt sorry for my old headphones. Life is not created equally, same as headphones. Sigh!! Cadela swims/moves/hears like an Olive Ridley turtle. firedog
Nothing to laugh at. I used one of those inexpensive Chinese tube buffers in my system once just to see what I thought of adding tubes in. Result: liked it conceptually, not that particular device. So I may have a high end tube component in my system in the future. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +_iFi AC iPurifiers >Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Conditioning+Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three >GIK Room Treatments. There's nothing wrong with valve amps. Some are better than others but it's not always down to price. My Project Ember MkII sounds superb. As for your V-Moda's ear cushions.. Yes, they're too small. I had to buy the XL pads as did many others. You can find them here.. V-MODA XL Memory Cushions for Crossfade M-100/LP/LP2 Link to comment

Something for me to look forward to.. maybe I will go to some audio shows to have a 1st hand experience. They are kind of cute and I remember I used to see tubes in old radios. Thanks for sharing. The pre-built price is hardly much more though & it is beautifully built. Be sure to watch this video before changing you V-Moda pads. It'll save some heartache. Link to comment

solrighal
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, as they say around these parts. I used to have an O2 amp & thought it was as good as it could get. Then I got the Ember demo and heard all that I'd been missing. After I returned the demo Ember I listened to the O2 once before deciding I had to buy the Ember. It took two months for that to happen and during that time I didn't listen to my 650's once. When I finally took delivery of my very own Project Ember it was fantastic. The buzz doesn't go away either. This is my end-game amp & headphones combo. Link to comment
