Axiom05
HDTracks is showing the above download as a new release. I would appreciate people's comments/opinions on this recording. How is the sound quality? Is is an improvement over previous CD releases, ca. 1996? Do the remixes add value? TIA. firedog
I have it. It's pretty good, although the original recording isn't the best: heavy multitracking and manipulation/compression. There's a 35th anniversary (2008?) that's good, but a fair amount of added volume compression. The 24-96 doesn't seem to have much added volume compression added to it - at least much less than the 35th anniversary. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three . Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment
