TubeLover
Somehow, someone discovered long lost tapes of the 1972 Yes tour, back when they were at their prime. It was recently released in two versions, a 14 disc complete compendium of all of the related concerts, and a 2 disc, two hour set of the best, highlighted performances of the tour. I received my copy of the 2 disc set today, and spent a fair amount of time listening to it earlier tonight. I saw Yes on this tour, when I was 18. As best I can recall, this really, and accurately, portrays it. It's certainly not perfect, in terms of performance, but then live concerts never, ever, are. If you are a Yes fan, and truly want to hear the reality of what was, this is for you. Yessongs came out not too much later than this and it is hardly accurate. At that point in time, record labels made the bands come into the studio and re-record any less than optimal parts of live albums, and Yes, as well many other bands later all but dis-associated themselves from those recordings. This is a most enlightening and accurate memento of that time with an historic band, and we don't see that very often. JC Link to comment
firedog
2 CD version: Performance is good; recording is pretty mediocre. I recently bought some live Springsteen from the same era that sounds much better, in terms of SQ. I love 70's Yes, but I'd recommend this one only for hardcore fans and completists. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three . Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment

Agreed on the sound quality being mediocre, and variable. Unfortunately, these are the only real recordings of that era available for Yes. JC Link to comment
KingCrimson
My father is a huge Yes fan, and saw them twice on this tour when he was in his mid twenties. I asked him about this knowing he had bought the cd set recently. According to him this recording captures the moment better than anything else that has ever been released. He did say that he wished the sound quality was better but thought it was an important document of that place and time for the band. Link to comment
