Audio_ELF
Decedents of my favourite "budget" (no disrespect meant by that term) bookshelf speakers. I use a pair of the older 601s2 with my Marantz M-CR510. Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment

I use a pair of the older 601s2 with my Marantz M-CR510. Funny you mention the 601's. My wife picked up a pair of 601's at a garage sale, and i liked them so much that i started researching B&W as i haven't listened to them before. ( i have listened to literally 100s of speakers, always buying and selling, but never came across b&w before). In some tracks i like the $45 601s more, and some tracks i like the $600 685s more....but maybe it's just break in, as the 685s sound a little hollow and less "full", and i am hoping it is just break in period....i think i sold a pair of new paradigm studios too soon not realizing about "break-in"...i am still relatively new at all of this....only got back into audio about a year ago. I don't know if i have the s1 or s2 though...the labels are torn off. i think i have the original s1s, but not sure. Link to comment

Not a fan of the diamond tweater 8 series, but the 303, 601 and my all time B&W fav 704 are great if you can find them second hand. Link to comment
