Norton
If I'm playing a SACD on the Oppo105 and providing I have the correct menu options selected, what is the "best" that the Oppo will output over HDMI: 1 DSD? 2. Hi Res PCM? 3. RDCD? I'm intrigued about the possibilities of combining with a HDMI dac. Thanks Link to comment
CatManDo
You can select DSD or PCM (=24/88 conversion from DSD) output over HDMI. What HDMI DAC are you thinking about? A home theatre receiver? There are currently only 3 "audiophile" DACs with HDMI inputs on the market (two NAD and one from Essence), which only support PCM. Bryston will release their BDP3 shortly, which is said to support DSD over HDMI. Claude Link to comment

Was thinking about a DAC - I already have a BDP2, so the new Bryston BDA3 would probably be top of my list. However, I understand HDMI is not a great interface for audio? Link to comment

Norton
presumably the DSD stream is still encrypted in some way - otherwise goodbye PS3? Link to comment

The new DAC was discussed here: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/bryston-announces-bda-3-digital-analogue-converter-direct-stream-digital-256-a-22285/ Claude Link to comment
