Jockaruba
Hi all, Yesterday I finished installing windows server 2012 v2 on my caps and got the music (jriver 19) up and running again. Here's my setup: caps v3, ssd, ppa usb3 v2 card, Buffalo Technologie external hdd, Keces Powersupply, Windows Server 2012. I use the caps for music only and control jriver with an iphone or tablet. Also I like to stream music from a few renown sites like JAZZRADIO.com - enjoy great jazz music so it is connected to the internet. What would be a suitable virus protection? Thank you, Jock Music Server: Caps v3, ssd, ppa usb3 v2 card, external usb hdd, Keces Powersupply,Windows Server 2016, JRiver, audio optimizer. DAC: Teac UD-501. kilroy
I believe that unlike consumer Windows, there is no readily available and affordable AV for Server. I have heard of registry or other hacks to get at least one consumer AV to install and run, you might do a search for that. The alternative is to install an enterprise solution, neither affordable or convenient, and maybe impossible any way on a single PC install (meaning not a client-server setup). You might consider, if this is a dedicated audio computer, to avoid any behavior that would bring a virus in to begin with such as avoiding web and browser use. Link to comment

If you have your router's firewall turned on and the router's setting to "stealth" for pings, you are probably reasonalby safe if you are online only when connected to streaming sites that you trust. cjf
Agreed! I would skip AV of any flavor for a dedicated media server. My Audio System -Last Updated May 20 2021 Link to comment
