BobSherman
I think if you remove the whole PC, you'll find the sound a lot more open. This is an inappropriate comment, and does not belong on this board. Link to comment
BobSherman
Thank baby Jesus that the Self-Anointed Thought Police have arrived to protect the children! You are very welcome. I think that was rather insulting and intimidating to new member. Maybe that was the point. Link to comment
BobSherman
Just uninstalled my onboard Intel HD video card driver, it is now a Video Controller in Other Devices in Device Manager. Cannot believe how much the audio quality has improved, like 10X the openness, my JPLAY's SinglePC Ultrastream (or even native ASIO ) setup is now better than 2-PC Xtream. Do not use discreet video card, even without driver the audio quality is much worse. Please try and would be happy to know if it works for you. Cheers! Video does effect sound negativity please ignore the previous comment. If you read the HQPlayer thread you will actually see a manufacture that actually understands computer audio and makes the same recommendation that you do. Please do not be intimidated by the uninformed. See #930 for an example. http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-software/hq-player-20293/index38.html . Link to comment
BobSherman
Affect and effect Rare case... Which this certainly is... Link to comment
BobSherman
Jriver as a product and company, likes to joke around. Just very sad... Link to comment
BobSherman
Nothing so inappropriate as a sense of humor here. For some strange reason you seem compelled to make excuses... Not a joke where it came from... Just a sad lack of understanding. Link to comment
BobSherman
Please don't turn this thread into a mess. Humor is great. I wish everyone had a sense of humor about audio. It's not life and death. I agree this thread is very funny. [video=youtube;d-diB65scQU] Link to comment
BobSherman
I honestly don't get it. How was the comment about taking the whole computer out inflammatory? It is not the comment, but who makes it and why... But now this has turned into one big laugh fest, so all is good in the world. Remember this one? Link to comment
BobSherman
Certain people are bothered about certain software, and we must all suffer for it. Yes sadly we all have to. Link to comment
BobSherman
I use JRiver for Mac to play my DSD files and am very pleased with it. I definitely recommend JRiver. I highly recommend JRiver also. It is a great mid-fi product. Great features but lacking in sound compared to some of the better sounding products. Link to comment
BobSherman
And what is your own concept about "Hi-Fi" software? You can start off with Foobar with JPlay. Using MonkeyMote HD you can get almost the useability as JRiver and IMO better sound. You also get flexibility with filter choices which also enhance the experience. Moving On there is HQplayer which is much better sounding and I highly recommend it. I have just started testing XXHighEnd and so far I am impressed. I initially installed it on a laptop so I will have to put it on a better system though to fairly compare it to the sound I am getting with HQPlayer and JPlay. Even at this stage it is superior to JRiver IMO. There are certainly better sounding choices vs JRiver out there IMO. You do give up some appearance and ease of use, but I feel it is well worth it. BobSherman
It would be good to get the ca opinion and review on software like HQ Player and JPlay in Xtream mode using JPlay mini etc. If you look at the computer audiophile suggested hardware page the majority of recommended software is from 2011 or older. Now that was funny! Thank you! Link to comment
BobSherman
Well he must have tried these things because in the section a note about sponsorship of the CAPS v4 write up he states: You would have a better chance of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the head Rabbi going to a diner for ham sandwich! BobSherman
Not convinced he did then Bob? The Cortes and Pipeline would make a good Xtream engine test for JPlay mini and either could test HQPlayer. I agree 100% Link to comment
BobSherman
A few months ago I removed the video driver from my PC in an attempt to reduce stuttering via DLNA. I run my PC headless. Removing the driver did reduce latency (as measured by latencymon). In the end, I don't think it made much of a change in the stuttering and I can't comment on the effect on the sound quality. A properly setup system should never stutter. It is more than just a driver at that point. Look deeper into settings buffers etc. Any other stuff interfering with playback. What hardware and software are you using? Link to comment
