rdsu
It's possible to use a USB Hub to connect two sources to USB Regen? Link to comment
rdsu
I have the same USB Adapter as DAudio (cost $2.50 for 2 of them), also the one included with the Regen, and another type, Silver Plated (cost $3 for 4 of them). Do you have a link for those Silver Plated? Thanks Link to comment
rdsu
I wouldn't bet on them being silver plated, but silver colored plating. Of course! But if works better, why not... Link to comment

rdsu
Thanks Alex, I'll leave it at 9V like I have it because it's working just fine. BTW, love the increase in detail and sounstage precision using the REGEN!! You can power your Regen using some LPS4 12V output, connect it to LPS4 USB input, and then connect your GO720 to the LPS4 USB output... This is how I will connect my Regen until wait for Pulse Infinity... Link to comment
rdsu
Hi Rui, I may be wrong but I believe, even at 12V, it requires a minimum of 1.5A and the LPS4 only outputs 1.2A. Alex or John, can you verify please? Plus the GO 720 draws power from the REGEN and there is a caution on the product page about that using 12V. Thanks, Gery Hi Gery, This way your Regen will consume 50mA, and GO720 will get its power from LPS4... USB REGEN: Questions and Answers – UpTone Audio Cheers Link to comment
rdsu
Thanks John! I'll use the supplied SMPS or the battery. The A & B output/input on the LPS4 are too close to allow plugging the REGEN and GO 720. I would have to use an extension cable for either one so I won;t use that configuration. Gery, Since I get the LPS, I use this with my GO450: AudioPC > LightSpeed 2G Data leg > LPS USB Input > LPS USB Output > GO450 I will get my Regen today and will use this configuration: AudioPC > USB Adaptor > Regen (powered by LPS 12V) > LightSpeed 2G Data leg > LPS USB Input > LPS USB Output > GO450 You have the LightSpeed 10G Split, so it's even better... Very simple and clean! Link to comment
rdsu
@Gery, My Regen finally arrived... I couldn't connect it to my AudioPC with the USB Adapter because of the power cable... For now this is my configuration: AudioPC > Pangea Audio USB PCOCC & 4% silver (1,5m) > Regen (powered by LPS 12V) > LightSpeed 2G Data leg (1m) > LPS USB Input > LPS USB Output > GO450 When Pulse Infinty arrives I will try this: AudioPC > LightSpeed 2G Data leg (1m) > Regen (powered by LPS USB Output) > USB Adaptor > Pulse Infinty @UpTone Audio, Immediately after I try USB REGEN I could hear the difference! Everything was improved, drums sounds great, detail, smooth, the sound-stage is very stable, and the bass more tight and extended... This took my GeekOut 450 to another level! Let see want happen after burn-in... Link to comment
rdsu
Glad you are enjoying the REGEN right away, but my same comment goes to you. Skip the LH 12V LPS into the REGEN--that voltage is too high when the REGEN has to supply your DAC/HA--and plug the GO directly into the REGEN. Let us know what you hear. Alex, With my configuration USB Regen will not supply my DAC. They have independent power: USB Regen is powered by LPS 12V DAC is powered by LPS USB Output 5V I also said the I use LightSpeed 2G Data leg (without power) to connect USB Regen to DAC. rdsu
For now this is my configuration: AudioPC > Pangea Audio USB PCOCC & 4% silver (1,5m) > Regen (powered by LH Labs Pulse LPS 12V) > LightSpeed 2G Data leg (1m) > LH Labs Pulse LPS USB Input > LH Labs Pulse LPS USB Output > GO450 > Amplifier Using LH Labs Pulse LPS 12V output to power Regen I get hum noise.... Maybe my LH Labs Pulse LPS 12V has some problem... Link to comment
rdsu
I'm using 12Vdc from my JS-2 to power my REGEN and do not have this issue. I don't know if the fact of also using the USB input and output of the same LPS could be an issue. Until my Pulse ∞ DAC arrive, I don't have other component with 12v input to test it... I opened a ticket at LH Labs... Link to comment
rdsu
Just to be clear. Are you powering the REGEN as well as the 5Vdc BUS from the LPS? Is this what you're saying? Yes. LH Labs Pulse LPS has a 12V output, USB input and output... Link to comment
rdsu
... so it's not an UpTone Audio JS-2 LPS you are talking about, right? Right. Sorry for the confusion... Link to comment
rdsu
Interesting. I've never seen one of them and thus am not aware of how they're doing that. If you do not power the dac from that LPS but still the REGEN is the hum gone? I can't test that, because only the DAC is connected with the Amplifier... For now, I don't have other component to try that. My Pulse ∞ DAC will arrive next month... Link to comment
rdsu
The USB loop in the Pulse is meant to clean the power going to the DAC. The regen itself does the same exact thing in a much better way: you have a regulated LPS feeding in a voltage higher than 5V and then there's a very high quality regulator in the Regen feeding 5V to your DAC. Additionally, the power leg from the input USB into the Regen is completely ignored. My recommendation would be not to use the USB loop in the Pulse at all, just use the Pulse to power the Regen into the DAC. The Pulse LPS is meant to power Pulse DAC, and when it arrives I will use USB output to power Regen. My incoming Pulse DAC only need USB power for handshake, but my current DAC, the Geek Out, uses all the USB power. So, I can't use the 12V output to power Regen and then connect my current DAC to Regen, because this will push it to much ((12V-3.3V)*(0.5A+0.05A) = 4,79W), like we can read here: USB REGEN: Questions and Answers – UpTone Audio It seems that LH Labs have a fix to this: they employed was a single resistor grounding the USB board to the chassis. This way we can use both output without a problem... Link to comment
rdsu
Not following exactly what you're saying... When you get the Pulse DAC, I would recommend you go from USB source (computer or whatever) to the Regen then to the DAC. Use the Pulse LPS to power the Regen with 12V. That's it. Don't use the USB loop at all. The Pulse LPS 12V output is to power the Pulse DAC(12V). The Pulse DAC is not powered by USB. Just for handshake. The Geek Out DAC is powered by USB. If I fix the Pulse LPS USB ground issue, I can also use it to feed Regen. Link to comment
rdsu
Ok I think I understand: you'll power the Pulse DAC off of the Pulse LPS's 12V and the Regen off of the 5V from the USB loop out. You'll need a special USB cable for this terminated in a 5.5/2.1 jack. Since the DAC only needs 5V for handshake, not having a great 5V out of the Regen doesn't matter (you'd have to power the Regen with more than 5V to properly engage the regulator). Exactly. And I already have that special cable... Link to comment
rdsu
@Superdad, what amperes or power USB Regen uses when connected to a 5V LPS? Thanks Link to comment
rdsu
@ristretto, Thanks for your suggestion... @Superdad, Thanks for the info... Link to comment
