I've heard the album. I thought it was a horrible bunch of dreck.

I think it's quite good. The orchestral arrangements don't always work well. It looks like a a great album for an audiophile release (unlike "A Letter Home" ...)

Tastes differ - glad someone likes it. :)

$32.29? Is this what we are in for from the Pono store?

I log in to the Pono store occasionally to see if they've turned on music downloads yet for the rest of us. They haven't. But I have seen comments on albums saying they are generally six to seven dollars more expensive than HDtracks.

Pono sent out an update last night to its Kickstarter backers (which I am one of).

They mentioned they are working through some issues (errors) with pricing, and stated "If you see an album where the pricing seems too high, odds are that it is going to be resolved shortly."

I imagine this will all be resolved before the site goes public (mid-December the last I heard).

I ordered Storytone in 24/192 through Neil Young's Warner Brother's store. I can run it through a spectrum analyzer to see if it's legit.

Pretty good deal through Warner on his newest album: $16.99 for CD/DVD and Pono download:

Neil Young Official Store - The Monsanto Years CD/DVD (+Pono Album) - CDs - Music

You will be happy to know, Bill, that Le Noise is only being offered in 16/44 on PonoMusic.

I don't think that includes the Pono files.

But what is on the DVD? It has a track listing there (with a different track order), and mentions a documentary. Assuming it is a normal DVD, it could be on 24/96, or 24/192 if it is a DVD-Audio which I doubt.

24/96 is good enough for me so if the DVD has that, I'm good with no Pono download, but I can't find specs on the DVD anywhere.

I wondered if I had over-paid for Neil Young's The Monsanto Years by purchasing the offer from The Neil Young Store/Warner Bros. website which amounted to $25.08 with all charges ompared to the offering at Amazon.com or at Pono Music Force website.

As it turns out, what I received for the price is the redbook CD and DVD with booklet; a disappointing download in mp3 format which is of no value to me; and today, the redbook CD/DVD arrived in the mail; and an email earlier this evening with the code to download the digital edition of The Monsanto Years in FLAC 192/24. The singles download was immediately available when the order was placed.

All in all, I am more than satisfied even if one may regard the multiple formats, various resolutions, single song downloads (including the DVD) as overkill.

Submitted for those who wanted to know some of the particulars. (Smile)

Enjoy the music,

Richard
