agentsmith
For those of you who puts a PC on you HiFi rack connecting to a high end DAC, how do you handle accessing from the comfort of your couch? What remote control software/hardware do you use? Are there any distributed PC music control platforms available? vortecjr
Its kinda funky to you use with a remote in the other hand for other things, but its simple and to the point. I was surprised that it works ok from across the room. agentsmith
In my environment the PC laptop would be stashed away discretely within the hifi rack. So I need another device accessing it remotely without using the client screen. The ideal situation for me would be either a remote within an iPod Touch, which I know can control iTunes quite nicely. Or another PC controlling the PC stashed away in the HiFi Rack. But as far as I know, iTunes in the PC world is not recommended for bit perfect hires output, is it? Audio_ELF
iTunes 8.2 had issues with High Resolution output (as tested by Kent Poon) it's fine with CD Resolution stuff. You could use a second laptop (maybe a notebook) with VNC to control the computer directly, or there are remotes for Media Monkey and I think both FooBar and J.River for the iTouch. Eloise Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
AudioBear
Or use a VNC on the iPhone/Touch, there are a few, but I like Jaadu. However, I would be lost without my iPhone Remote app, which I use to control iTunes or RemoteBuddy, (which I think is only available for the Mac?), for more general remote control. There are also free and paid for controllers for VLC and the like. Perhaps the easiest would be to get iTunes 8.2.1, is the high res problem fixed with this version? It surely will be soon as it is fine on the Mac, and use the splendid Remote app with your iPhone/Touch? Link to comment
