One and a half
Super Hirez has released Mobile fidelity Silver label downloads... It's a start! INXS/Kick 44.1/24 Just mingled in with the others from other labels no announcement. This is a good start, from nothing to small beginnings, now to download the rest of the current crop and more importantly the out of print SACD (DSD). DreamOperator
Interesting. I wonder how that compares with the 44.1/24 Rhino over at HDT? I've been thinking about picking up that and Listen Like Thieves. Hackintosh W7/OSX 3570k/16GB > Audirvana+ > Metric Halo ULN-8 > Rythmik F12 and Butler Audio TDB 2250 > Magnepan 1.7 > 13.5'x26'x7.5' room, HK/Limage setup Link to comment
CatManDo
Interesting. I wonder how that compares with the 44.1/24 Rhino over at HDT? Could it be that AS put it by error under the "Mobile Fidelity Silver" label? The product code is "XWAR97902F44", which refers to Warner rather than MoFi. For instance they also have "Linkin Park - Recharged" = "XWAR41156F44", and that's a Warner download. Claude Link to comment
bmoura
Looks like a Warner PCM download from "Rhino Atlantic". Link to comment
One and a half
It looks as though the Mofi LP data is mixed up with this download. The release is corrected, now from Warner. Too good to be true, sigh. AS Profile Equipment List Say NO to MQA Link to comment
Hiro
Speaking of MFSL, does anybody know what DSD ADC they are using for their A-to-D transfers, and whether this DSD front end is 2X DSD capable? (IIRC it's some in-house developed piece of kit, but I'm not 100% sure). It would be great if they could use that killer front end to do 5.6 DSD transfers, wouldn't it? Link to comment

Their initial SACDs were done with DSD DACs from Ed Meitner at EMM Labs. Link to comment
Keyser Söze
How come the audiophile labels don't offer downloads? Is it because they want their products to be limited edition? Link to comment
bmoura
How come the audiophile labels don't offer downloads? Is it because they want their products to be limited edition? Acoustic Sounds is the only audiophile label that sells downloads today. Time will tell if others get into the market. Link to comment

It could be it, or some legal matters - if their licensing contracts stipulate they can only sell a given title in one specific format, they simply can't release it as a download (at least without renegotiating the licensing agreement). I'm sure it's a licensing issue. The record labels license their albums directly to the download sites today. They could do the same with the reissue labels for download. Depends on title availability, the cost of licensing, would the reissue labels get an exclusivity window for some key albums - or not, etc. Link to comment
