Are Punk and Rap (and Graffiti) Art?

Recommended Posts

Yes...with a proviso, IMO....Quincy Jones had some great rap on his albums or "fight the power" as the opening to "Do the Right Thing" was just spellbinding...or Gil Scott Heron, et.al....I think there is too much latitude for complete mediocrity and blinged out T and A that degrades the field (hello Kanya).....but muscular, aggressive street poetry, yes....not some dead beat, low IQ, multi millionaire talking about his hoes..as if his astounding wealth was proof of talent...wdw
