Has anyone noticed incorrect streaming bitrates displayed in LDS 4.0?

LDS 4.0 displays the following for various content resolutions:

- Redbook 16/44.1K: 44.1Khz/176.4Kbps

- 16/48K: 48Khz/192Kbps

- 24/88.2K: 88.2Khz/529.2Kbps

- 24/96K: 96Khz/576Kbps

- 24/176.4K: 176Khz/1.0584Mbps

- 24/192K: 192Khz/1.152Mbps

- 24/352.8K: 352.8Khz/2.1168Mbps

- DSD64: 2.8224Mhz/705.6Kbps

- DSD128: 5.6448Mhz/1.4112Mbps

- DSD256: 11.2896Mhz/2.8224Mbps

In each case the displayed sampling rate is correct, but the streaming bit rate is not (low by a factor of 8).

No issues for me, scan. I'm on Aries Mini firmware 4.1, LDS 4.0.

See example of DSD64 below:

Ah, I can confirm LDS 4.0 for iPhone displays correct bitrates, but LDS 4.0 for iPad displays wrong bitrates. I checked on two different generations of iPad and got the same wrong results.

Please confirm this still exists with FW 4.1 and LDS 4.0.

If so, please report it to Auralic support.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Auralic!

It still does. Auralic knows about it. Also having issues with group play. They are working on that as well.

Hi guys:

The file format (bit rate) on album information interface is relay on the information coming from media server. This function is designed for joint use with Lightning Server. You may experience incorrect number with 3rd party DLNA/UPnP server.

The bit rate on the 'now playing' interface is relay on the information coming from renderer device (ARIES) so it shows the actual and realtime number.

According to scan's data and mine, the display is off by a factor of 8.

I am using MinimServer, not sure what scan and others are using.

Either way, a factor of 8 seems like byte-bit conversion, and easy to correct.

Are you saying the ratio varies with different DLNA/UPnP servers?

In fact, I would suggest that rather than this bit rate info, I, as the user would rather know the file type and sample rate.

Something like FLAC 24-bit 96khz, or DSD 256.

Showing actual bit rate makes more sense on the track view as it is now.

Maybe that can avoid this problem altogether.

This bitrate information is seminal to our enjoyment of music and we should open a new thread to discuss the immense problems it causes to our hobby.

Reminds me of pixel peepers on a photo forum I belong to. I love the sound of my Aries and numbers are there to talk about and not to listened to.

Perhaps we/you can all send messages to the third party app developers asking them to work on this issue.

It used to work in previous version of their app, right? If so then maybe this was more of a business decision aimed at offering a richer experience for those using Lightning Server.

Digital:  Sonore opticalModule > Uptone EtherRegen > Shunyata Sigma Ethernet > Antipodes K30 > Shunyata Omega USB > Gustard X26pro DAC < Mutec REF10 SE120

Amp & Speakers:  Spectral DMA-150mk2 > Aerial 10T

Foundation: Stillpoints Ultra, Shunyata Denali v1 and Typhon x1 power conditioners, Shunyata Delta v2 and QSA Lanedri Gamma Revelation and Infinity power cords, QSA Lanedri Gamma Revelation XLR interconnect, Shunyata Sigma Ethernet, MIT Matrix HD 60 speaker cables, GIK bass traps, ASC Isothermal tube traps, Stillpoints Aperture panels, Quadraspire SVT rack, PGGB 256

Perhaps it's more to do with small differences between 'OpenHome' and 'UPnP'? I've had no issues using their integrated Lightning Server.
