Apple's free Remote IOS app

Recommended Posts

Dumb question, I'm sure. I've been using Apple's Remote app for many years to control my Mac Mini, currently running Audirvana in iTunes Integrated Mode. On my iPad2, the app has lately become sluggish (doesn't scroll well) and temperamental. I tried it from my iPhone 5s and not only did it scroll much faster but it has a better look and better functionality (as far as I'm concerned). Why is this app not as good on the iPad as it is on the phone? Why is it not the same?

You might have an older version on the iPad, or it caches larger images for the album art. I've also noticed sometimes that the album art cache would become corrupted and map the wrong images into the albums. If all else fails, try deleting the app and re-installing it, which should force rebuilding the album art cache. Another possibility is the iPhone is simply newer and faster?

I found that an old ipod touch that used to work just fine as a remote became sluggish as my digital collection grew. Seems it may have just been too slow a processor to handle the larger collection because a newer model works just fine.

I have the same identical problem. The iPad app is slow and crashes every time I try to cache my library's artwork (about 4K albums). The iPhone app does not share this problem. I do not think is a matter of speed or version of the iDevices as both are new (iPhone 5s and iPad Air). Any potential solution? Thanks!
