ebrandon
Like another recent poster, I have a good DAC with SPDIF input and want a device that will take up to 24/192 input from my Mac's firewire port, and output up to 24/192 SPDIF to the DAC. In a recent thread someone recommended the Fireface 400 as the most affordable option, but when I went to my local musician's store (Bananas At Large in San Rafael, CA) to buy a Fireface 400 for over $1200 they suggested I could do the same thing with an M Audio ProFire 610. Here is the link http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/ProFire610.html It's only $399 at my local shop and seems too good to be true, is it? Thanks! - Eric Brandon Link to comment
Audio_ELF
It should work ... I've seen the M-Audio Pro-Fire mentioned before as a possible solution. This thread should help. (Especially) As it's a product the store is recommending to you to do the job, can't you get them to sell it to you with a promise of being able to return in 7 or 14 days if it doesn't work as you need it to? Eloise Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
