Looking forward to hear the Berkley Design reference as well... thanks guys :-) P TAD DA1000 & Berkley Design reference DAC are indeed 2 superbes DAC worth listening. I would also add the NAGRA HD DAC to the list. So if you have a chance to hear them, let's us know your results. Link to comment
jtm
I could listen to the TAD-DA1000 at Munich HighEnd show in the TAD room and was impressed by its rich details. The latest issue of AUDIO magazine, one of the leading hifi magazines here in Germany, has reviewed the TAD-DA1000 and was also amazed by its highly revealing, detailed sound. It could climb to no.1 position in their ranking list among the stand-alone DAC's. Link to comment

Thank you for this information. -->Do you have a link to this issue of AUDIO Magazine ? I read that when playing 24/192 files, it downsample them to 24/96 !! Why does it do this !!? Isn't this a "limiting" factor ? anyway, now my list of pretenders to feed my Eddie Current 4-45 Headphone tube amp get longueur : - TAD DA1000 - NAGRA HD DAC - Berkley Design reference DAC - Lampizator BIG7 - TotalDAC D1 and on a more reasonable pricing level: - AMR DP-777 (next SE version) ahh...difficult hobby ! any other suggestion ? (The comparaison between the NAGRA HD DAC and the Berkley alpha DAC reference serie might be very interesting. They take two opposite approach: NAGRA convert everything to DSD, berkley only play PCM !) Link to comment
