JRiver and Mac Mini . . . trouble dragging and dropping in files

Recommended Posts

I have the latest version of JRiver.

I am having two problems:

When I rip albums to my hard drive they do not come over to JRiver. I recently changed from Audirvana. No problems using Audirvana integrated with ITunes.

Second problem and it was duplicated by a helper at Mytek, I can't drag and drop files. I have dragged files using JRiver and PC for years. It simply does not function with the latest version of JRiver and my Mac mini. The helper at Mytek ran into the same issue last Friday with his Mac Mini and JRiver. We were both able to drag files but never got the green light to drop. I tried dragging to the main front page of MC and also tried creating a new playlist were it gives you a very specific target and directs me to "DROP FILES HERE" . Never could get a green light drop command.

Thanks in advance for helping.

So I see you are looking into drag and drop issues with the Interact forum. Fine. But what about simple auto-import (so JRIver actively monitors your specified directory, and adds anything you add there automatically). Works for me in both Windows and Mac versions.

I am some what sure I have that set correct. That is what I am seeking . . . a hands off transition as I have enjoyed with ITunes. The reason I am asking the same question here is I have not solved. I keep reading. There must be something I am doing wrong. AND WHY CAN'T I DRAG N" DROP?

Why not post a screen shot of your Auto Import settings? Mine have worked fine since I started using JRiver. Also execute a Do Auto Import Now and see if that adds all files. If not something in the set up is askew.

That looks okay to me. Might try turning off "ignore files previously deleted from the library", clearing the library, and letting it re-import everything.

In my set up I don't have "Get Cover Art" checked because my art is all previously embedded. I do have "Ignore files previously.." checked but I also have "Update For External Changes" checked. It seems to me this should be checked as when you add music externally or make metadata edits I thought this was the task that brought them into JRiver.

Refer to my screen shot . . .

In the top line showing folders to watch I have my external HD listed. Do I need to expand that string further showing "Folders" within HD as well?

You should not have to, but saying that, I just realized I have all my music under a folder called "Music" on my hard drive, not at the root level. And that is one of the folders I have JRiver watching. Perhaps you can try doing that, and see if it works better.

Honestly, I am quite puzzled about this, as I have absolutely no trouble at all.
