mkrzych
Hello, Question for Mozart Violin concertos, especially no 3, 4 and 5th. What do you recommend in modern sound? I have listen so far to Gramiaux (nice performance, but old sound), Julia Fisher, ok, but weird miking and dull sound and Tognetti/ACO - that's quite nice imho. There will be also upcoming PentaTone recording with Arabella Streinbacher, but hard to say anything yet. Any suggestions? -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. It is also the most noble. mkrzych
I recommend this one on 2L: Amongst any other labels/releases? I know that sound quality of this recording is awesome, but it didn't get too much echo over the classical critics reviews somehow, don't know why? -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. Musicophile
I'm not such a big fan of most of the violin concertos. Keep in mind that they were all written before Mozart was 19. One exception is the Sinfonia Concertante, which I can recommend on this record, both musically and sonically: http://www.channelclassics.com/podger-29309-digital.html If you prefer having the violin concertos as well, I can recommend this version by the great late Abbado (SQ good, but not outstanding): Mozart: Violin Concertos; Sinfonia Concertante - Claudio Abbado,Giuliano Carmignola,Orchestra Mozart | Songs, Reviews, Credits, Awards | AllMusic Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment

I've just recently bought her album with Pavlo Beznosiuk and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment playing Haydn and Mozart - exceptional! For the violin concertos I quite enjoy the music theme through all of them, so I thought that would be nice to get these pieces by the regarded and recommended players. I will listen to Abaddo and Thorsen agan. So far, I like the Tognetti interpretation with ACO: eClassical - Mozart ? Violin Concertos BTW, for me its Grieg album is exceptional as well: eClassical - Grieg · Music for String Orchestra so I tried to give them a go for Mozart - however not decided yet. -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art.
