DonB
I've searched found numerous Android remote applications for Foobar, and one for a Windows phone, but nothing for a W8.1 tablet. I'm looking for software that is simple to install and configure, reliable, and free. Any suggestions? Thanks Link to comment
francis66
If you want to control foobar runing on a PC with a W8.1 tablet, the simplest way is to use the Remote Desktop on the tablet. It will give you a complete control on all the softwares on the PC (thin clent to server). Link to comment

Thanks for the response. From what I've been able to find out the Windows Remote Desktop requires the Pro version of 8.1 which is a quite expensive upgrade. I'm going to give TeamViewer a try which sounds like a good free alternative. Link to comment
Daren F
You can also give Splashtop a try. I prefer it over TeamViewer. Link to comment

francis66
Remote Desktop is a free download and easy to install on the client side (tablet). Try it, maybe it works with W8 even if it is not the Pro version Link to comment
DonB
Thanks! I'll give it a try when the new kit arrives and report the results. Link to comment

Foobar2000 Controller is mainly known for it's Android app, but the server functions can actually be used with every internet browser. Just enter http://server_ip:8888/foobar2000controller in a browser tab (server_ip = IP address of the computer running foobar2000), and you will get a webpage that displays the playlist, the album cover, the track, a progress bar. It's also possible to change the playlist. Everything that can be done with the Android app. foobar2000 controller: How to start Much better than using desktop sharing, since you can use local controls instead of having to navigate a remote desktop.
