tne
I recently purchased the Allman Brothers first album from Acoustic Sounds in DSD format. Also I had hoped to perform an analysis of the DR and look at it with Audacity, but realized that Audacity and TT DR do not work on DSD files. Of course I could convert to PCM format then test, but that is not what I want to do. Are there any analysis tools for DSD file like Audacity and TT DR, preferably free? One and a half
Jriver does analysis of dynamic range for DSD files. For that you have to pay. Not much, it's still cheaper than a double album from Acoustic Sounds, a fine investment. AS Profile Equipment List Say NO to MQA Link to comment
tne
Would it be rude to suggest using one's ears? Of course I listened, but it is also useful to analyse and quantify music, particularly to determine compression and other parameters. Jud
I'm not too familiar with Korg Audiogate, but it is free and does at least some things with DSD files, so you might have a look at it. CatManDo
I understand there are more reasons to analyze DSD files directly, but as far as the DR value is concerned, conversion does not make a difference in my experience. Even converting into MP3 does not affect the DR value. Claude Link to comment
