Cable Lifters?

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago I picked up a used set of the original Shunyata Dark Field elevators for a good price. I threw placed them under my MIT speaker cables but didn't notice much of a difference. I didn't try to listen for a difference as it was just too hot in my listening room. I figured I would wait until it cooled off to do some comparisons.

On Saturday I packed them off and sent them off to a friend to evaluate. I was surprised to find that I missed them. The sound had degraded subtly, but it was enough for me to be bothered.

I think getting speaker cables off the floor is worth trying. Not sure if one needs to spend extra bucks for specialized elevators, but I don't regret forking out for the Shunyata elevators.

Indirectly I would say yes. Much easier to keep power, signal, and speakers wires separate. Helps keep them from getting dirty. Also, can help reduce cable stress if the cable is sagging or getting kinked and causing mechanical stress on the connectors.

They never worked for me. If you want some, use your imagination and build your on.

I have found that the ideal is to have someone, like a kid (not too tall) stand slightly behind and between the speakers and hold the speaker cables, one in each hand, during the listening session. This has the added advantage of providing some natural, organic room dampening. Ideally they should be wearing white gloves so as to not get any organic contaminants on the actual cable. Ask them not to breathe too heavily while performing this function as that can be distracting, particularly during the more delicate, quiet sections.

Organic cotton is a must for the gloves (and all clothing honestly). Polyester fibers enhance and amplify RFI.

Not a big fan of either aesthetically speaking... Despite all of the snarky sarcasm, they do help to keep the pet hair out of the speaker wire sheaths and keep the cables separated. I love em just for the routing if for nothing else.

Those somehow remind me of the catch cables for arresting aircraft on an aircraft carrier. Ghostrider, you are inbound, let me know when the cable trips you up. Of course with "The Danger Zone" playing in the background.

And always keep in mind: Cognitive biases, like seeing optical illusions are a sign of a normally functioning brain. We all have them, it’s nothing to be ashamed about, but it is something that affects our objective evaluation of reality.

Perhaps if you lived in an apartment, there could be mains cabling in the ceiling immediately below ?

How a Digital Audio file sounds, or a Digital Video file looks, is governed to a large extent by the Power Supply area. All that Identical Checksums gives is the possibility of REGENERATING the file to close to that of the original file.
