Kuja Posted March 20, 2017 Share Posted March 20, 2017 I have disabled the integrated VIA audio chip in BIOS. Now I have only one device under the audio device settings. The kernel audio driver parameters module option has disappeared. I still have no sound! Link to comment

Kuja Posted March 20, 2017 Share Posted March 20, 2017 I have wiped/cleared the drive and did the fresh install, this time with the integrated audio chip disabled in BIOS, just in case that there was some audio device conflict during the first install. Nothing has changed, I still have no output from my HiFace. PS I have tried limiting the HiFace to 44100 as suggested by Triplefun. /usr/bin/squeezelite -b 3072:4096 -R -u vME:::28 -m 5a:0b:ac:d6:80:53 -c pcm,flac,mp3,ogg -r 44100,48000,88200,96000 -d all=info -f /run/spacd/c/1/l/0/squeezelite.log -N /mnt/hdd/system/spac/M2Tech USB Audio 1.0/device0/squeezelite.name -s 127.0.0.1 -o hw:1,0 -a 100:3:24_3:1:0 -p 45 [13:23:43.871647] stream_init:290 init stream [13:23:43.878980] output_init_alsa:909 init output [13:23:43.879094] output_init_alsa:951 requested alsa_buffer: 100 alsa_period: 3 format: 24_3 mmap: 1 [13:23:43.879225] output_init_common:410 supported rates: 96000 88200 48000 44100 [13:23:43.890753] output_init_alsa:967 memory locked [13:23:43.891340] decode_init:152 init decode, include codecs: pcm,flac,mp3,ogg exclude codecs: [13:23:43.981058] output_thread:716 open output device: hw:1,0 [13:23:43.981144] alsa_open:389 opening device at: 44100 [13:23:43.981592] alsa_open:460 opened device hw:1,0 using format: S24_3LE sample rate: 44100 mmap: 1 [13:23:43.981701] alsa_open:551 buffer: 100 period: 3 -> buffer size: 4410 period size: 1470 [13:23:43.982175] load_vorbis:300 loaded libvorbisfile.so.3 [13:23:43.982237] register_vorbis:329 using vorbis to decode ogg [13:23:43.983300] alsa_open:568 unable to set hw params: Input/output error [13:23:44.041823] load_flac:266 loaded libFLAC.so.8 [13:23:44.041919] register_flac:294 using flac to decode flc [13:23:44.041939] register_pcm:468 using pcm to decode aif,pcm [13:23:44.072914] load_mad:383 loaded libmad.so.0 [13:23:44.073003] register_mad:412 using mad to decode mp3 [13:23:44.111971] load_soxr:268 loaded libsoxr.so.0 [13:23:44.112066] resample_init:361 resampling sync recipe: 0x36, flags: 0x00, scale: 0.89, precision: 28.0, passband_end: 0.00000, stopband_begin: 0.00000, phase_response: -1.0 [13:23:44.112363] slimproto:824 retrieved name M2Tech USB Audio 1.0 from /mnt/hdd/system/spac/M2Tech USB Audio 1.0/device0/squeezelite.name [13:23:44.112456] slimproto:849 connecting to 127.0.0.1:3483 [13:23:44.114376] slimproto:882 connected [13:23:44.114481] slimproto:893 local player [13:23:44.114501] sendHELO:124 mac: 5a:0b:ac:d6:80:53 [13:23:44.114521] sendHELO:126 cap: Model=squeezelite,AccuratePlayPoints=1,HasDigitalOut=1,HasPolarityInversion=1,Firmware=v1.8+ (Daphile),ModelName=SqueezeLite,MaxSampleRate=96000,wav,aif,pcm,flc,mp3,ogg,loc [13:23:44.397472] decode_flush:224 decode flush [13:23:44.397568] output_flush:423 flush output buffer [13:23:44.406045] process_setd:430 set name: M2Tech USB Audio 1.0 [13:23:44.406322] process_setd:437 storing name in /mnt/hdd/system/spac/M2Tech USB Audio 1.0/device0/squeezelite.name [13:23:48.983443] output_thread:716 open output device: hw:1,0 [13:23:48.983610] alsa_open:389 opening device at: 44100 [13:23:48.984165] alsa_open:460 opened device hw:1,0 using format: S24_3LE sample rate: 44100 mmap: 1 [13:23:48.984264] alsa_open:551 buffer: 100 period: 3 -> buffer size: 4410 period size: 1470[13:23:48.986297] alsa_open:568 unable to set hw params: Input/output error Link to comment
Triplefun Posted March 20, 2017 Share Posted March 20, 2017 Have you raised an issue with daphile using https://www.daphile.com/#contact Also what DAC with input set to spdif are you using? Link to comment
Kuja Posted March 20, 2017 Share Posted March 20, 2017 It works now! The problem was in my active extension cable with USB repeater. I was using it because my MacMini is away from my hifi equipment rack. When I moved my Daphile PC close to my DAC and plugged the HiFace directly without the active extension cable, it started working. I never thought that this could be the problem, since HiFace works perfectly connected to my Mini with that cable. Thank you all, and I'm sorry if I have wasted your time. Link to comment

mike eastman Posted April 8, 2017 Share Posted April 8, 2017 First off I have to say Daphile has the best SQ of any program I've tried. Is there a way the search by song title if not any chance of adding that feature at a later date? Link to comment
Triplefun Posted April 8, 2017 Share Posted April 8, 2017 LMS, as bundled with daphile, enables searching by song, album and artist. See the search icon top right on the browser interface. Link to comment

Same for me, then I have investigated a little bit more and deeper as use of combination of JRiver with Daphile as DLNA renderer should be second to none to get the best of GUI and SQ. For sharing, I emailed with Kimmo. First reply was: "I don't personally use much DLNA or UPnP but I just tested my Daphile PC as a UPnP renderer for BubbleUPnP server running on my Android phone. It played FLAC just fine..." I confirmed well also that with JRiver MC17 as DLNA server, FLAC files are properly streamed to Daphile as DLNA renderer with following plugins settings: But no WAV (LPCM) files at all...It is a pity, because with JRiver MC, SQ is far better with WAV files than FLAC files, then my all JRiver library is in WAV format. Then Kimmo replied me: "I tried WAV and AIFF files with BubbleUPnP and they didn't play first via Daphile used as DLNA renderer. After I disabled "Mime-type check" at "UPnP Tweaks" settings they played fine. See if JRiver has similar option. I'm not quite sure where's the problem because I really don't understand DLNA / UPnP protocols. So I'm not perhaps able to solve this problem.." I have tried all settings available into DLNA server settings of JRiver MC17, but unfortunately none give me proper streaming of WAV files. No problem with FLAC files... Maybe JRiver MC 22 allow this type of specific DLNA server settings. But I did not do the upgrade to latest release of MC. If you have JRiver MC22, let us know your test outcomes... smith123 Posted July 19, 2017 Share Posted July 19, 2017 Hello everybody. I'm trying to test upsamling with Daphile and would very much appreciate if someone could tell if my settings are correct ore can/should be tweaked. It would be really nice to know if I am on the right path. I use a laptop with a Naim DAC V1 that is DSD 64 and 128 compatible. I haven’t heard any clipping, but the red message in picture 2 seems to state something else? It states Sample rate 352.793 (DSD128) under USB Status on the DAC V1 display btw. I made some pictures of the settings. Cheers Link to comment
Triplefun Posted July 19, 2017 Share Posted July 19, 2017 Increase the attenuation until the system is stable. Also make sure you have set the CPU power to max on the power settings. And check the info CPU processing to see you are not overloading the notebook - should not exceed 50%. The numbers show summed CPU thread usage for 1, 5 and 15 minutes. A 2 thread CPU would peak with a value 2. Ideally it should not exceed 1. Link to comment
smith123 Posted July 20, 2017 Share Posted July 20, 2017 Thanks for your reply Triplefun. Very helpful. Any idea of what value on attenuation to start with? Should I go 0.5 value up at the time and play some music? It will maybe take some time before the message disappear? I’ve played around with it a bit but the message was still there when I checked. I’ve added a picture of the power settings. The max value is 2ghz, and I think that it has 4 cores (AMD A6-5200 2 GHz). Where can I view the CPU processing info btw? It is an an old Laptop with a AMD processor so maybe I'm pushing it way to hard. Thanks Link to comment
Triplefun Posted July 20, 2017 Share Posted July 20, 2017 Try -3 or even -5 on the attenuation. If you replay the track then reenter the settings screen you should see if the clipping is still happening. I don't think the attenuation has much impact on the quality of the sound. The CPU load is shown on the info screen tab - see system load. The 3 numbers will be out of 4 and should not exceed 2. Link to comment
