nicolashodges
I am very tempted to get a DAC7 but am very disappointed at the 16/48 USB limitation. The ability to rip DVD-As and play them through USB is a very attractive one, but this seems to have been ruled out by Audio Research. I wonder if the fact they quote a frequency range up to 20kHz (in contrast to Stax for example) suggests that they believe higher sample rates and ultra-high frequencies offer no advantages? I also wonder if they will update it at a later date... Anyone have inside knowledge? best Nic Link to comment
Audio_ELF
Most, but by no means all, USB connections to DACs (especially specialist / domestic audio companies as opposed to studio equipment manufacturers) are limited to 16/48 or 24/48. It is likely a restriction of the USB reciever chip so unlikely to be upgraded via firmware. Eloise Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
