Jud
I'd gladly chip in a bit more! At the rate he is adding to both the feature set and performance, I sure hope his business model is working out for him. I know some people will be mad at me for suggesting this, but I think that when A+ hits version 2.0 he should make a charge for the upgrade from 1.x. His target customer is a finite group, so regardless of the praise we heap upon the product here in this "in-the-know" forum, and even with the numbers that come over to A+ from competing programs, I doubt that his new user license base can expand fast enough over the long term to generate a decent income (though perhaps Damien has a "day job"). He does have a day job that requires frequent travel, as well as a family who would like to see him occasionally. (Just mention this so folks can be even more amazed at Damien's responsiveness.) levandier
bad wording, sorry. I was meaning that I totally agree with you about 2.0 being a paid upgrade so... there will be two for some people to be mad at :-p and no: I'm not made of money, but I strongly believe work has to be paid. great work even more ;-) I agree completely. I also have a suggestion for Damien. Given that Audirvana sounds better in playlist mode (there's a thread on the subject), maybe Damien can write an iOS/Android remote control app for A+ and sell it separately like Fidelia does. I'd certainly pay for a remote app add-on as the iPad VNC solution I'm using now is really clunky. Link to comment

Novice2012
Sorry, nothing to contribute other than I just today downloaded my trial version of Audirvana and am excited to dig in to test the sound, absence of bugs, etc. Only relevant because I am a massively frustrated Amarra user that cannot get rid of huge gaps inbetween tracks in cashe mode, delays, pops, etc. And I paid good money for that one.... So, although I'll bite the bullet and buy the full version of this one if all goes smoothly (and bag Amarra altogether,) I am enthused that there may be light/sound at the end of the tunnel here. Take that! Amarra!! Link to comment

I'd pay too for an A+ controller app, especially one as elegant as iPeng for Squeezebox. But for now, the Apple physical (not app) IR remote works for playlist mode. Sure, mainly just track forward/reverse and pause, but that's still very useful for me...especially since a number of my playlists are albums, so I know what comes next. I just start a playlist, using my work computer to control my music computer with OS X screen sharing function, and then go into the next room where the music computer/amp/speakers/etc live. Using the Apple IR remote also works well for a quick pause in A+ integrated mode too, like if the phone rings and the music is loud. odelay
+1 for iOS A+ app for playlist mode :-) I've always used A+ on its own and have used Rowmote Pro with TV on iPod. I would love an elegant app to loaf and navigate playlists navigate. Making the playlists easier to browse with the 'player' would be appreciated too. appledave
Hi Damien, As I wrote earlier, SQ once again got better. However, I have a problem, which I also had with 1.4.6: After I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion, the player regularly just stops. It doesn't crash--the music just stops and A+ "forgets" where it got to in the playlist. No need to restart A+, but the music must be restarted. Any ideas what is happening? I have a MacbookPro i5 w 8 GB ram and 320 GB hd. I noticed the same behaviour on my 2011 i5 Mac Mini w 4GB and 500GB HD running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. This only seems to happen in iTunes integrated mode. I have never had a stoppage in standalone mode, but it is fairly frequent when integrating with iTunes 10.7. I have yet to try out the new A+ Beta 1.4.9.9. I have no need for audio units or multi-channel, so I am curious if the 2 channel SQ improvement is noticeable. btw switching the iZotope Pre-Binding setting to .6 as suggested has removed the harshness from Mode 1 integer mode in A+ 1.4.6. Is this still the suggestion for the new beta? Many Thanks Damien as always! We mostly all loved it (it was a big jump in SQ from 1.4.3), but the beta series (1.4.9.x) is another quantum leap ahead. Do it NOW! Really!! (Read my and others' reports earlier in this thread.) Agree. I actually wasn't fully convinced of some of the sound changes 1.4.6 brought, but the new beta fixes some of the aspects I didn't really like. Worth checking out. You can always run the beta in parallel with 1.4.6. Furthermore, I don't use AUs or multichannel either, but the new feature of being able to upsample redbook only and leave high-res untouched is great. Stability is great by the way, haven't had any issues so far at all. Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment

Suppose this is equivalent to leaving the "2x" rates (88.2/96) alone, since I'm assuming your system has a max input sample rate of 176.4/192. Do you happen to know what rate the Exposure upsamples to internally? The reason for this is that the Exposure with it's Wolfson 8741 uses different filter sets for 44&48 vs. other sample rates. I find by listening that upsampling redbook makes a relatively significant difference, vs. e.g. upsampling 96 to 192 doesn't make a huge difference. Furthermore, the DAC accepts 192kHz without problems, but has frequent hiccups with 176 for whatever reason, so 2x upsampling for 88.2 content creates an issue. Always so interesting to me how we can debate the theoretical here endlessly, but our day-to-day specific decisions are made on practical grounds (e.g., "the DAC accepts 192kHz without problems, but has frequent hiccups with 176...").
