Volume adjustment using JRemote

I now have 2 zones set in JRiver and use JRemote on iPhone5;

 

1. ASIO with volume off for Zone where I push audio to my DAC / 2 channel preamp

 

2. this zone is to distribute to various parts of my home sending audio to an Oppo 105 > preamp / prosessor for distribution to multiple zones in my home

 

My issue is that I'm having problems figuring out how to get the volume control on JRemote to effectively adjust volume levels. The bar appears and I'm able to slide it but to no affect. I've looked around at all components and do not see what I've failed to do. Would be grateful for any suggestions.
