mindnoise
Hi All, I finally purchased a Mac Mini. I also got a Western Digital My Book to use as a external drive. The version that I got is formatted as FAT and can be used by both MAC and PC. Should I reformat this drive before using it or can I just begin ripping CDs as it is. If yes how do I do this on a Mac??? I tired it today but was faced with too many options I didn't understand. Thanks, Jay Jay Raised on TV. Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Hi Jay - If you are only going to use it on a Mac then I highly recommend reformatting to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Go to Applications >> Utilities >> Disk Utility Click on your FAT drive then on the right side of the window you'll have the option to erase. This is where you select the volume format and you can give the volume a name. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
mindnoise
Hi Chris, This is what I did: Go to Applications >> Utilities >> Disk Utility select "My Book" >> Volume Format to Ext. Journal >> Give it a name >> press "Erase" I end up with an error message. Am I doing something wrong??? Thanks again Chris. Jay Jay Raised on TV. Link to comment
