Cheers, Pearse. hi pearse your meitner has the xmos chipset and thesycon drivers? ive an arcam rpac that plays everything up to 24 192 with the new firmware and drivers on 2.53 xxxxx also xmos/thesycon i think its because thesycon driver accepts 24 in 32 folder Link to comment
John Dot
Tried the bat file for FLAC conversion but no luck and also tried to code from Adolfo with no luck, has MQN moved on past working for FLAC conversion file at this point with 2.53? Cheers, Pearse. First download latest SOX from here SOX and install it to C:\Sox\ Then save the text below as MQNFlac.bat to your MQn folder and make shortcut on the desktop (works perfect). Lovely to listen to. 2.53 nt nt dec eax cp almost there... it needs some air... need space to breath... if that makes any sense. need a balance between relax and intense. not feeling the emotional response yet. for piano, it is technically the best version so far. think it's missing the rebounce effect. it is like jelly dropping dead on the floor. it should be like a ball drop and then rebounce. otherwise, i can't ask for more technically. it is already great. LowOrbit
Agree with the above posts - current versions are all very good, if subtly different. I am particularly liking 2.53 nt nt. It's very open and detailed with great dynamics and tone. As a brief experiment yesterday I resampled a red book track upto 44100 at 24 and 32 bits. The WaveIO/Thesycon interface didn't approve of that either. I haven't tried the same experiment with any other player, so will do so when I get a spare minute. It'll be interesting to see whether it is inherent in the interface technology or something between the player and the driver. Link to comment

taggart
ok, shall get on and do the 24 bit version. 24 bit is not ideal as it is 3 Bytes (3 x 8 Bits) , CPUs deal with cache lines of 64 bytes, 3 doesn't go into 64 and the data is loaded into cache in 16 Byte chunks, so with 16/32 bit the data can be loaded as 8 x 16 Bytes = 128 Bytes at a time and with 24 bit it can is loaded in 9 x 16 Bytes = 144 Bytes, this means it loads 2 whole cache lines and 16 Bytes of a third cache line, this is called a cache line split as the whole of the 3rd cache line is loaded even though it isn't used and can lead to extra cpu cycles and more noise. Whether this will affect the SQ I don't know yet, but it is a reason why I think 24 bit is not a particularly smart format, because extra noise will be generated and it won't be a regular noise. Think AMD cpus are less affected by cache line splits and haswell isn't affected so much. Due to the WaveIO is playing 16/44.1 very well, sound quality should not be affected here, I guess!? And thought you assume 24bit is not an optimal format for hires files, I would give it a try if it generally could be done. The alternatives are: Using sox and transcoding hires files down, buying a new DAC/DDC or not to play hires files. I thought people had used the 24 bit version of MQn with that driver it's on the rapidshare site There is no harm in doubt and skepticism, for it is through these that new discoveries are made. sbgk
wasn't being critical, not sure if fatty, plump are the correct words either more how you would describe a duck. Can your headphones cope with max volume, usually their performance would degrade ? maybe full, bloated are better, full is better than bloated There is no harm in doubt and skepticism, for it is through these that new discoveries are made. sbgk
This sounds sweet, but not as clean as new loop, especially in bass yup, bass not as deep as I would expect and less atmospheric, so want more bass + atmospherics without sounding lean. cvrle59
Is new MQn.bat (for unicode files) fully tested? It doesn't work on my computer for some reason. It fails to create File1.txt. Link to comment

Maybe I missunderstood this ... !? Certainly, I can use the actual versions for 16/44.1 and the 24bit version for 24/96. Link to comment
