Audioengine A5

I am just getting into using my new MacBook as a music server. Using a loaned Tascam US-122L USB Audio/MIDI interface (24/96) as my DAC, the sound through my Sony receiver and B&W DM 330 speakers is so much better than my Rotel RCD-965BX CD player. The plan is to move to an active speaker system with wireless control via Apple Express.

Any suggestions on the Audioengine A5 or other systems? I would like to stay under $1000 Canadian.

I assume your plan is to move to a powered speaker system and not necessarily to an active speaker system. The distinction is provided in this link fyi.

Take care, the Apple Express (WiFi streamed music) does not support 24/96. The tracks are down-sampled in iTunes whenever the Apple Express is selected as the output speakers.

 

To get 24/96 out, go direct from your computer optical output to your dac/amp
