when asked if *that sound* is what *he* likes, he said that that kind of system is what people buys! ?

but once home the U1 Mini delivered all his goodness ?

btw... how does Lumin internal upsampling work? does it perform some sort of "filtering"?

only asked out of curiosity: I'm using Roon and... will give Audirvana another try once official fw is out

(I also just kissed DSD good bye and ordered a great NOS, filterless, DAC  )

album is "Terpsichore" by Jordi Savall and... looks gapless doesn't work for tracks shorter than 30 seconds (many in this album). with longer ones it works fine ?

I'm quite sure my U1 Mini "does something" every day at about 9PM: it usually is sleeping, at that time, and I see "Network Error" showing briefly on its display then last played track shows and, after 15 minutes, as per settings, it goes back to sleep mode 😶

no issues, here, when playing

only noticed, four or five times, always at about the same hour in the evening, that "network Error" popping out very briefly when the U1 Mini was in sleep mode

just found a small glitch:

- stop playback (as Roon endpoint) at the very beginning of a track

- let the U1 Mini "sleep" (display goes black)

- resume playback from where you left and...

... no track title on U1 Mini display ('till a new track starts)

only difference is... I resumed playback the following day

I'll try again tonight and report tomorrow: might have been just a casualty

btw... my RoPiee Roon Display was working fine: just U1 Mini was acting

 

usually, at the end of day, I empty the queue instead of just pausing playback: this might be why it never happened before

only detail I forgot is... not a local album but one streaming from Qobuz

so... tried once more and I definitely can reproduce the glitch

 

Lumin U1 Mini as Roon endpoint, steps are:

- let an album's track play completely

- hit "Pause" as soon as next one starts (see attached pic)

- let everything there overnight (Lumin enters sleep mode and display goes black)

- following day launch Roon (control) and just hit "play" (from where it left!)

- no track title on U1 Mini display 'till another one starts (see attached pic showing glitch only affects U1 Mini whilst RooPiee Roon Display shows track info)

anyway... don't get mad at it: it's a very minor glitch I can live with as, usually, I stop playback and empty the play queue. only found it the time I forgot to do the above

wait Peter... try just once more using a classical music album (or one with "compositions"): stop playback at the very beginning of a "multi-parts track" (eg. beginning of 2nd movement out of 3 or more, as in my screenshot)

 

also... be sure, the following day, to launch Roon so it opens where you left the day before and, without doing anything else, just resume playback by clicking the play/pause button (bottom left corner)

@wklie Peter: it definitely happens with "compositions" only: tried with a non-classical album and... all is working fine

Chord DACs do have adjustable output voltage (1-3v) and my Metrum Adagio pre/dac has a very clever -10db switch

 

I suggest all manufacturers do the same if they want to deviate from the 2v *standard* 🙄 : there's people with very sensitive speakers out there

keep in mind that by setting it higher you are helping someone and causing troubles to someone else

in fact Cees Ruijtenberg points out this one as the main reason manufacturers are doing it: because... published specs, at those voltages, "look better". and he strongly recommends to always compare products specs at 2v

sign up, using a VPN, from a country served by Qobuz. only needed to sign up

I've been streaming Qobuz years before it became available here
