Kevin M.
I plan to build a server that will do stereo over USB to SPDIF conversion. However, I am using Jriver Media center and would like to build something that can output 5.1 24/192 over HDMI to my surround processor. I would appreciate any suggestions for parts. I plan to use the Streacom FC10 fanless case. I'll be outputing 2 channel into my dac and the HDMI is only for the surround processor so I need both pathways optimized. Link to comment
jriver
You just need a motherboard with HDMI out. Then set MC to "bitstreaming" in the video options. If you want 2 channel for audio and multichannel for video, you could investigate using zones in MC: Zones - JRiverWiki Jim Hillegass / JRiver Media Center / jriver.com Link to comment

I would be transmitting PCM. Link to comment
Matt Ashland
Would it be bitstreaming for 5.1 PCM that's sourced from 5.1 DSD? I would be transmitting PCM. Yes. HDMI can carry 8-channels of 24-bit uncompressed PCM @ 192 KHz. Use DSP Studio > Output Format to dial in this format for DSD playback inside Media Center. Matt Ashland, JRiver Link to comment
