Has anybody checked bit perfect output of iTunes 8 on a PC?

I'm grasping at straws...

 

I know it's confirmed on iTunes 7, that it isn't possible. Has anyone kept up with release 8?

Hi Monk - I'll be able to check this out as soon as my Alpha DAC comes back from being repaired. One of my cats had a field day in my listening room and caused quite a bit of damage :~(

You seem to be having a rough go of it lately, with your logic board issues and now this...

 

So far, knock on the proverbial wood, I have been lucky with my equipment with a cat, one two year old child, one 5 year old child and a wife!

Thanks for the article suggestion.

Kent seems to be concentrating more on the rips than the playback in his article. True, he has one sentance that says iTunes is bit transparent, but he doesn't mention on which platform and under which settings.

Bit perfect playback on Mac only. On the PC there are no ASIO or WASAPI options and I doubt there ever will be.
