...in my opinion / experience...

While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing.

And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism.

keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out.

No ma'am, and again, No ma'am, I don't. Or, Yes'm I do. But do I have a clue?

Automan say this don't sound sincere, and promises he will investigate further.

Good night, I'm off to lala land, although I'm seem to be in it here too.

Pretty funny observations and very true!

I am also bothered by all ambient noises. HVAC coming on, people walking upstairs, the MBP fan hissing, anything!

Guess it comes with the territory.

...to live in the Rainforest:

25º Celsius (year average), the you don't need a furnace and almost never air conditioned, a low noise ceiling fan is OK.

But, when it rains (9 months per year), it rains.

Cell phone service is bad.

Internet speed is ridiculous.

Our streets have more holes than asphalt, when there are streets.

Bureaucracy is ugly (the government owns most of the public services).

But, the air is so pure and our (all year long) very green nature is so beautiful, that I can live without furnace.

Also the power and water bill is very low, you guess why...

"Jump the shark

Ooooh, another mensa reference, albeit more subtle than Pissie's."

I have never claimed to be right due to a Mensa membership.

However, it could be a sublimated message or it could be just link ;-)

to the attic or the basement, which might give you some options for moving it farther from the listening room. At least it would free up interior space.

I can't figure out what DigiPete said that referred to Mensa or "jump the shark". Sorry for my cluelessness, but I don't even know what the latter means.

I wouldn't mind a little clarification on the Mensa tie-in myself (although I guess the esoterica adds to the Mensa mystique), but as a gentleman of letters, I can tell you that "jump the shark" is a reference to the Happy Days TV series. Something about the Fonz waterskiing.
