Power Supply for External HDD

I have an Oyen external 2.5" hdd and would like to find a "quiet" power supply to power the unit instead of relying on buss power. Any suggestions?

try this part number from Jameco:

 

2081609 ADAPTER,REG LIN WALL,5VDC/1AMP $9.95

 

it's a 1A linear power supply, albeit still a wallwart.

 

If you have the Oyen Minipro, you'll also need this adapter from kvConnection:

 

K-30-340 $5.40

 

Coaxial DC power plug Adapter 2.1mm x 5.5 DC JACK to 1.3mm x 3.4 DC Plug

 

 

There's a slightly more powerful PS at Jameco as well:

 

1919220 also $9.95, this one provides 1200mA, as opposed to the 1000mA of the one above. Neither a switchers.

 

 

I've tested the first one - 2081609 - it works fine in my setup, even when listening to music while ripping to the drive.
